This week I took some time out to visit the Tim Walker Story Teller Exhibition at Somerset House. Tim Walker is undoubtedly one of my all time favourite photographers; with his distinctive whimsical style and unmistakable sense of childhood magic I can't help but fall in love with every picture he creates. After seeing the exhibition advertise at the beautiful Somerset House some months ago, I was extremely excited to delve into the weird and wonderful world of Tim Walker.
Upon entering the exhibition I was immediately filled with that sense of calm I get whenever I see Tim's work. He has the ability to turn our wildest dreams into realities, creating a fictional story in the most beautiful series of images. A serene, white open space was filled with whitewashed frames, grand fireplaces and extravagant props. It's quite literally like stepping into a dream...
Although busy, the East Wing at Somerset House was somewhat calming, every visitor stopping to take in every image, prop and narrative they discovered. Like a child in a strange playhouse of both fashion and art I wandered through the hallways, each room leading me into a different chapter of Walker's life and work.

'Sometimes when you're taking a picture an extraordinary
sense of luck and chance takes over and propels you to make pictures
that you couldn't in your wildest dreams have imagined. This is the
magic of photography.' - Tim Walker
I spent hours getting lost in the mysterious collection of oversized props, stunning costumes and a breathtaking talent. Whether you're a Tim Walker fan, a photography enthusiast or generally
someone who appreciates beautiful things I can't urge you enough to go and
visit the exhibit.
