Dinner at Cerise

Forbury Hotel
Last weekend Tom and I headed out to dinner at the Forbury, a stunning boutique townhouse hotel in the center of Reading. As soon as you arrive you’re instantly welcomed with incredibly high ceilings and a breathtaking 86,000 Italian bead chandelier. Head down the marble staircase, just past the grand piano and you’ll find the Cerise, a stylish cocktail bar and restaurant named after it’s unique pink interior.

Being such a nice day we decided to enjoy cocktails in the restaurant’s secret garden before sitting down to dinner. It’s a beautifully tranquil outside dining area with pomegranate trees and a waterfall feature – the perfect setting for pre-dinner drinks in the sun. The cocktail list is seriously extensive, boasting everything from classic martinis to a range of slightly more adventurous concoctions. Tom went for the sparkling house cocktail ‘Cerise Imperial’ and I opted for the Cherry Martini with Wisniowka Cherry Vodka, Creme de Cerise and a splash of cranberry juice - definitely one I'm going to try at home. We sat and watched the sun set before moving to the dining room where we were greeted with a basket of freshly baked bread.

Having almost finished another round of cocktails we eventually decided to order. The food arrived shortly after, effortlessly well presented and equally delicious. After finishing three courses of incredible food we retired to the bar area and ended the evening with a bottle of sparkling wine, chatting about our future and how, one day, we’ll travel the world. The atmosphere is so relaxed, you find yourself slipping into the plush brocade armchairs as if you’re already back in the hotel room.

It was, without a doubt, the perfect end to a lovely weekend.
