Last year a new haircare brand took the beauty world by storm... Olaplex was dubbed the holy grail for chemically treated hair, said to repair and strengthen damaged hair to its virgin state. I instantly took an interest; anything that causes this much of a stir in the beauty world has got to be worth a try. Having recently gone lighter with my balayage, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to see what all the fuss was about.
The Olaplex Hair Perfector No.3 is the at-home counterpart of the in-salon treatment. It's all about repairing the damaged bonds that give hair elasticity and strength. Promising to maintain healthy hair between salon visits, I was keen to see what it could do for my somewhat lacklustre hair.
On first application I noticed how well it coated my hair. Having quite dry ends I usually find that hair treatments soak straight in, but this seemed to coat each strand and made my hair feel instantly smoother. After applying it all over unwashed, towel-dried hair, I let it to soak in for the next hour or so. One of the best things about this treatment is the smell - I can only describe it as that sweet, floral salon smell. Plus, the longer you leave it in, the better the outcome.
After an impressive Netflix marathon I was keen to see the results. I hopped straight into the shower to rinse the Olaplex off and my hair felt so soft it was almost unrecognisable. None of the softness was lost after shampooing, and once dry I could instantly notice a difference in the texture of my hair, particularly at the ends. You know how your hair feels after leaving the salon?!
Three treatments in and my hair feels lighter, bouncier and shinier than ever. It really is a hair miracle!
